Waldo is my baby boy. He
is a big orange tabby who greets me when I
come home from work, stretches up my body,
asking to be picked up, climbs into my arms
when I'm trying to work at the computer, and
just generally makes an adorable nuisance of
himself. That's my boy!
My first glimpse of Waldo was one week-day
morning as I took the food out for Brownie
and Tortie. We already know about Tortie's
two kittens, but as I glanced down the deck
stairs to where Brownie waited, a tiny red
tabby head poked up along side her, just a
quickly ducking down again. It all happened
so quickly I wasn't sure exactly what I had
seen. That Saturday morning, Brownie brought
all the kittens up to the deck to eat and
play. There he was, that adorable red tabby,
along with a silver tabby short hair, a
silver tabby long-hair, and a black and
white kitten. Brownies litter was a true
mixture.
Waldo and his sister Odessa were trapped
together. Unfortunately, he managed to
escape as I was transferring him to the big
cage, and disappeared into the netherworld
of my basement. After 48 hours, I was
finally able to trap him using a humane trap
I borrowed from the SPCA. I'm sure the
little guy was tired and hungry. Once we
determined he was a little boy, what could
we call him but Waldo? Fortunately this bad
experience at my hands did nothing to
diminish his good disposition. The two of us
bonded and have been best of friends ever
since. Waldo sleeps with me every night,
often under the blanket with me. He is my
best friend. |
