Welcome to my corner of the web. It's a small corner, but if we have similar interests, perhaps you will stay a bit and look around.

My name is Gail and I live in York, Pennsylvania with my sister and 15 cats (yes 15, I counted them again this morning!). Besides being a cat lover, I collect recipes, direct 3 church choirs and play the organ and piano.

I work full time at Gent-l-kleen Products as the Technical Director and Information Systems Manager. Besides maintaining the company network and software, I also run our Quality Control program and improve existing and develop new product lines.

At Quickel Evangelical Lutheran Church, I work as the Adult Choir Director for our 10:30 AM service, the Quickel's Ladies Quartet, and our Grace Notes children's choir. Once a month I play the organ for both services, and also play the piano for our 8:00 Worship service several times a month. In 2008, I volunteered to create the Quickel Website, which I currently maintain and update as often as possible.

I have been collecting recipes for many years now, beginning with typing index cards from my Mother's old cookbooks, trying to preserve those recipes before the books completely deteriorated. I tried a couple of recipe computer programs, but was not happy until I discovered MasterCook®. This is a very powerful, yet easy to use database for storing recipes and creating cookbooks. You can search by various parameters to build and save often used searches, print out recipes in customizable formats, and also plan menus and create shopping lists. I developed a simple piece of software, called McTagIt, to help import recipes. McTagIt has it's own format that it will convert to the XML format used by MasterCook. Once converted, the recipes can easily be imported into MasterCook, rather than typing everything in by hand. The software can be downloaded from the McTagIt page, and is free to anyone for personal use.

Have fun browsing my Kat Blog of "The Herd". I used to say that I would probably end up as that crazy old lady at the end of the street with 40 cats. I never thought it would happen so quickly! It all started when we began feeding two stray (female) cats on our deck during the summer of 2007. That summer, seven kittens appeared and we were able to trap them and domesticate them. I searched all over our area for a low-cost spay/neuter program for feral cats, but could not find one at that time. Shortly after delivering their broods to us, both strays disappeared. But two more replaced them that fall. In the summer of 2008, we were again blessed with nine more kittens. Fortunately, our local SPCA re-started their spay-our-strays program, and we were able to have the feral mothers spayed this spring, before any more little fur balls appeared on our deck. Check out my Kat Blog to meet the cats and keep up with their antics. I even bought a digital camera just to take pictures of them!
